TEBOLVL: First machine tests a succes
As the TEBOLVL plant construction site enters its final phase before commissioning at the end of 2025, here is a progress report on the various phases to date.
Curretn state of progress
Initially scheduled, the symbolic “out of water/out of air” stage has been reached, enabling the finishing work to be completed, such as the passageways for the various flows and the fittings around the future production line. The availability of the finished frame has enabled the first machine tests to be successfully launched, particularly on the conveyor side. The final stage involves the assembly of the unwinding unit, which has just been delivered to the site. The production line will now be ready for final adjustments and the first TEBOLVL production tests. Outside, the imposing structure of the boiler for the steaming process is being completed, so that the first tests can begin shortly.
The construction of the offices
The construction of the future offices and common areas will make extensive use of wood. This choice means that users can enjoy a comfortable working environment and high thermal performance in both the hot summers and sometimes harsh winters typical of the region. The construction principle is based on timber-framed walls combined with floors and ceilings.
LVL load-bearing panels. The XXL format of the panels, 8m long and 1.80m wide, means that this structural element can be installed quickly and to a high standard. The exterior cladding will be made of Douglas fir cladding with a contemporary design. The structure will be completed by mid-July, when the finishing work begins. The teams will then be able to move in at the start of the new academic year.
THE SURROUNDINGS OF THE PLANT
Particular attention is being paid to the exterior of the site. Roadworks have begun and will make it easier and safer to travel between the various parts of the plant. Work is continuing on the planting of trees in the immediate vicinity of the production site. The basins have been completed and are now receiving topsoil.

ARRIVAL OF THE LAST CONTAINER
The container containing the decoiler components has arrived. Symbolically, it is the last container to enter the factory. In a few weeks’ time, the containers will leave in the other direction for international customers. They will be carrying TEBOLVL® produced at the Lempdes- sur-Alagnon plant. The construction adventure will be over. Now it’s time to focus on the quality and sustainable production of a biosourced, agile building material.
Nouvelle unité de production LVL-Lamibois
Le Groupe THEBAULT annonce la création d’une nouvelle et 6ème unité de transformation du bois
Implantée en Auvergne, cette nouvelle usine est destinée à dérouler des grumes de Sapin Pectiné, puis à assembler les placages pour la fabrication de panneaux et poutres LVL – Lamibois. Spécialiste du déroulage et de la production de contreplaqués, le Groupe THEBAULT poursuit ainsi son développement industriel dans la fabrication de produits bois destinés notamment à la construction et à l’industrie. Nous confortons également notre engagement dans l’implantation industrielle en France.
LE PROJET EN CHIFFRES
Le projet représente un investissement prévisionnel de près de 100 millions d’Euros. Ce nouveau site verra la construction d’une usine de 25 000 m² sur un terrain de 15 hectares situé sur le Parc d’activité Sud Auvergne, à Lempdes-sur-Allagnon (43), au carrefour des départements du Cantal, de la Haute-Loire et du Puy de Dôme.
A terme, l’usine assurera une production de 100 000 m3 de LVL entièrement ‘‘Made in France’’, avec une première phase à 70 000 m3. Le démarrage du site est programmé pour 2025 et permettra la création de 85 emplois directs, majoritairement issus des bassins d’emplois locaux.
Porté par un marché en forte croissance, cette production française de produits d’ingénierie bois viendra étoffer l’offre de matériaux bio-sourcés contribuant à la décarbonation du secteur du bâtiment.

EN SYNERGIE AVEC LES AUTRES ESSENCES
Le choix d’une nouvelle et 4ème essence avec le Sapin Pectiné est stratégiquement une force sur les marchés du Groupe THEBAULT. Avec des panneaux Okoumé, Peuplier, ainsi que Pin Maritime et Sapin Pectiné pour les résineux, le Groupe THEBAULT est le fabricant proposant la plus large palette d’essences, le tout en production française.
Cette nouvelle unité de production s’inscrit dans la stratégie du Groupe THEBAULT d’élargissement de sa gamme, en synergie avec les essences déjà transformées, tout en sécurisant son approvisionnement bois pour les prochaines décennies.
Le Sapin Pectiné, essence endémique et historique du Massif-Central, a convaincu par ses excellentes qualités mécaniques et a été sélectionné pour l’industrialisation des produits LVL.
Ces produits porteront les labels de gestion durable PEFC et Bois de France, et les certifications mondiales, tous plébiscités dans les secteurs de la construction auxquels sont destinés les poutres et panneaux LVL.

UN PROJET SOUTENU ET PARTAGÉ
Projet emblématique du Plan d’investissement France 2030 dans son volet décarbonation, la nouvelle unité du Groupe THEBAULT participera à la valorisation industrielle de la ressource bois locale. Ce projet bénéficie du soutien financier de l’État via son opérateur l’ADEME. La région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes et le Syndicat intercommunal pour le développement économique Allier Allagnon complètent le financement.
Fort de ses associations industrielles réussies, le Groupe THEBAULT partage son investissement avec un premier partenaire, la société CBD Bois, spécialisée dans le sciage de résineux basée à Craponnes-sur-Arzon (43).
Le Groupe THEBAULT représentera, à minima, 75 % de l’actionnariat.

VOUS AVEZ DIT LVL ?
Le LVL, pour Laminated Veneer Lumber, est aussi appelé Lamibois en français. C’est le produit d’ingénierie bois par excellence. La production du Groupe THEBAULT sera disponible en panneaux et en formats pour la réalisation de poutres, aux caractéristiques reconnues :

De nombreuses applications
Le LVL peut être employé en planchers, toitures et ossatures bois, charpente, contreventement, en surélévation ou rénovation. Il se retrouve également en menuiserie ou ameublement, et pour la fabrication d’éléments ou panneaux fortement sollicités.

As part of the implementation of the “France Relance” plan (France – Recovery) announced by the Government early September 2020, Fabienne BUCCIO, Prefect of the New Aquitaine Region, and Alain ROUSSET, President of the Regional Council, have selected the top 10 recipient companies from New Aquitaine eligible to the fund for the stimulus program aiming at boosting industrial investments in the region.
The THEBAULT Ply-Land unit of the THEBAULT Group is one of the 10 regional companies that have been nominated as awardees for their upcoming investments in Maritime – Pine Plywood aimed at being used in the timber frame construction.
These 10 projects represent nearly € 6.4 million in subsidies provided by France Relance within a total program for a total of € 32 million in productive investments.
They will enable the companies concerned to diversify their activity, modernise their manufacturing processes and thus maintain their presence in New Aquitaine.
5 million investment in industrial processes
A global investment of more than 5 million Euros will be invested during 2020 in the modernization of industrial processes and the utilisation of our wood resource. Enhancing our resources and optimizing our production through new investments. Investments are spread over all the Group’s sites, the objectives being to improve productivity and competitiveness through identified levers: • Modernization of services ; • Improving quality and adding value to products; • Enhancement of wood resources; • Modernization of production tools and industrial practices; • Improvement of equipment as part of a voluntary environmental approach..
When patching is done automatically
Patching consists in filling the lack of wood, such as knots, on the Maritime Pine plies, with a wood patch. The installation of a new patching line on the Sauzé-Vaussais site (79) will significantly increase the production of high grade face panels. Equipped with a latest-generation colour camera and two high-precision patching heads, it will double the site’s patching capacity. A new, more elaborate patch shape will ensure better adhesion and more discreet patching.
Machining at the forefront
The Maritime Pine plywood peeling and manufacturing site in Solferino (40) will in turn be equipped with a high-performance machining line with multiple options, including the possibility of producing reduced strips only 300 mm wide. Fully automated, this new equipment will require no manual intervention, except for initial adjustments, and will triple the production capacity of TG machined Maritime Pine panels, such as TeboFloor or TeboRoof products for the machining of edges, raw panels or WeatherScreen treated panels.
Dimensional cutting saw
The Magné site, where Okoume and Poplar-based plywood is produced, is equipped with a high-performance cutting saw. Limiting handling, this German-designed saw, manufactured by the Homag company, combines flexibility of use with high technical precision and a capacity to cut panels up to 110 mm thick in record time in manual or automatic operation. Thanks to a specific software and in conjunction with the sales department, it offers an optimization of the cutting plans as soon as the order is received. It thus makes it possible to offer this technical service on all panels in the THEBAULT range.
The electrostatic filter
The electrostatic filter is a gas dedusting device based on the operating principle of electrostatic separation. This technology is particularly efficient for the separation of the smallest particles and guarantees a very low level of dust emissions in the gases thus cleaned. The installation of this type of filter on the boiler of Solferino (40) has allowed to optimize the gas flow by improving the energy efficiency of the installation
Head Office refurbishment and extension.
The THEBAULT Group takes care of its general services by expanding its historically established head office in Magné (79). These new square meters will contribute to the modernization of the offices by bringing comfort and ergonomics to the various workstations. The reception hall will be turned into a showroom to present to visitors, suppliers and customers an example of the use of plywood in construction.
