A FOREST BRIDGE BETWEEN MOORS AND GABON
Always involved and actor in the protection of the environment, the THEBAULT Group is a partner of the “Giant Seeds” scheme. A pedagogical and educational programme, the “Seeds of Giants” project creates a forest bridge between pupils from schools in the Landes and those from Gabonese schools. First in the classroom and then in the field in the heart of the forest, the pupils are made aware of the theme “Forests here and forests elsewhere” to address the global issues surrounding forests, through environmental, social and economic issues.
The similarity of the program between the Landes and Gabon, allows students to approach the forest in its global dimension and builds an exchange between the younger generations of both countries. The program is completed by a planting operation of young tree shoots: maritime pine or red oak in France and mango, ozigo, rapeseed or cocoa tree in Gabon! The program is spread over 3 school years and benefits from the support of the Landes Departmental Council, the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park and a group of private companies of which the THEBAULT Group is a member. At the end of the first year, 26 classes (690 pupils) from CE1 to 5ème in France and 23 in Gabon were able to take part in the programme and exchange their experience.
